🩸 The Story of Nitara – The Vampire of Vaeternus

I. The World That Became a Prison

Nitara comes from Vaeternus, a dark realm existing on the outer edges of the realms.
Her people were not monsters from legends — they were intelligent, proud, and lived by their own laws. But during a long-forgotten war, Vaeternus was severed and chained to Outworld, as if an entire world had been bound with an invisible tether of energy.

From that moment on, every being born in Vaeternus had a single purpose:

To free their homeland.

Nitara grew up hearing stories of past times, when her people lived freely, without having to feed on visitors from other realms.
But now — to survive — they had to drink the blood of outsiders.
A civilization became a nation of hunters.

Nitara never accepted that transformation.

II. A Shadow Between Worlds

As a young vampire, Nitara quickly discovered her talents:

  • she was incredibly fast,

  • she could dive into darkness like a bird in the night,

  • she could hide her emotions so deeply that even she sometimes doubted them.

She became a scout, a silent observer, a spy tracking warriors passing through Outworld.

She wasn’t looking for a fight.
She was looking for an opportunity.

III. The Discovery of the Dragon Egg Core

During one of her missions, she came across a legend tied to the Dragon Egg Core — a massive crystal whose energy kept Vaeternus anchored to Outworld like a cosmic anchor.

If the core were destroyed:

✔ Vaeternus would regain its freedom
✘ but its unleashed energy could burn anyone who touched it

Nitara knew she would not survive the ritual.

So she needed someone else…
strong, yet naive enough to be manipulated.

And she found him.

IV. Nitara and Cyrax — The Blood Pact

Nitara found Cyrax, a Lin Kuei warrior turned cybernetic assassin.
She observed him for a long time — she knew that deep inside, a part of him was still human, and his desire for freedom from his technological prison made him the perfect target.

She pretended to be an ally.
Played innocent, lost, helpless, seeking aid.

Cyrax believed her.

She led him into the Cavern of the Dragon Core.

Cyrax — thinking he was helping her free “her people” — shattered the core.

The explosion tore through the chamber, and Nitara was thrown into darkness.
She woke up… in Vaeternus, free for the first time in centuries.

She accomplished what no one before her had achieved.

But Cyrax paid the price.

Nitara didn’t look back even once.

V. The Shadow That Never Rests

The liberation of her realm was not the end of her story.
Nitara returned to Outworld, even though she no longer had to.

Why?

Because Vaeternus, cut off for centuries, had grown weak.
The realm’s energy was unstable.
No one knew if it could survive without a new source of power.

Nitara knew exactly what that meant:

Her people could fall again — and she would not allow that to happen.

She became more ruthless.
She no longer simply fought — she ruled from the shadows, hunting warriors, studying portals, observing the powers of Shao Kahn, Mileena, Sindel, and the creatures that only pretended to be human.

Her reputation grew:

  • some saw her as a demon,

  • others as a herald of change,

  • and others still — as a spirit that always brings death.

But Nitara had only one goal:

To secure the future of Vaeternus.

And if she had to manipulate again, use again, and kill again —
that was the price she had accepted long ago.

VI. The Coming Twilight – Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1

In the new timeline created by Liu Kang, Nitara was reborn with a different destiny:

Her people are no longer “accidental monsters” of Outworld, but part of a larger order.
Nitara now has the chance to become:

  • an ambassador of Vaeternus,

  • its warrior,

  • or… its greatest threat.

Every decision she makes influences the fate of her race.
If Vaeternus falls, so does she.
If it survives — Nitara becomes the hero of her own mythology.

VII. Who Is Nitara Really?

She is not a monster.
She is not a hero.
She is not a demon or a savior.

Nitara is what she has always been:

A being who fights for her home — no matter the cost.

Her story in Mortal Kombat never ends, because:

  • there is always someone she must trust,

  • always someone she can deceive,

  • always someone she may defeat… or lose everything to.

Nitara is an anti-hero of the MK world.

And every decision she makes carries one question:

“How far would you go to protect what you love?”
